Top 3 Jewelry Markets in Guangzhou and 2 Tips for Wholesalers
Guangzhou is a popular choice for wholesale jewelry. Today, I'll introduce three major wholesale jewelry markets in Guangzhou, each with its own unique jewelry niche and key tips for sourcing.
Xijiao Building (西郊大厦)
Guangzhou Liwan Square (荔湾广场)
Taikang Jewelry Market (泰康饰品城)
2 Tips for Stocking Up at Guangzhou's Jewelry Markets
Xijiao Building (西郊大厦)
Located near Guangzhou Railway Station, Xijiao Building (西郊大厦) is also known as South China International Commodity City (华南国际小商品城). It has over a decade of business history and mainly focuses on the wholesale of mid-to-low-priced fashion jewelry. From earrings and necklaces to rings and bracelets, the variety is endless; some say no girl can leave this place empty-handed!
The Xijiao Building has two sections, Tower A and Tower B.
Tower A is primarily dedicated to international commerce, focusing on metallic textures and Western and African-inspired styles, along with delicate Japanese and Korean designs.
Tower B is for national retail stores and e-commerce wholesalers.
Xijiao Building is primarily dedicated to wholesale, with a minimum order of 12 pieces per style. Compared to Taikang Jewelry City, wholesale prices here are more affordable. The product layout by floor is shown below:
1F-3F: Wholesale of finished jewelry.
1F: Mixed items, including jewelry, watches, K gold, diamond jewelry, titanium steel, crystal, alloy and necklaces.
2F: Mainly copper jewelry, which is cheaper.
3F: Focus on steel jewelry materials.
4F-5F: Jewelry components and materials, as well as warehouses.
By the way, if you're traveling by car, it's best to park in the underground parking lot. The surface parking is reserved for internal use.
Guangzhou Liwan Square (荔湾广场)
Guangzhou Liwan Plaza is one of China's most famous wholesale jewelry markets and a landmark in Guangzhou. It primarily focuses on the wholesale of crystal beads, gemstones, jade, silver jewelry, and jewelry components, and also has some retail stores. Be sure to check for authenticity and quality.
Here is the distribution of the product by floor:
B1: Primarily wholesale crystals, gemstones, finished jewelry, and DIY jewelry accessories (e.g., beads, wire, copper-plated silver parts). Most components require a minimum order of 3 to 5 pieces per style. There are also shops that offer moissanite, pearls (mostly freshwater, mid- to low-end), and jade.
1F: Similar to B1 but with higher quality crystals, gemstones and stones.
2F: A mix of silver jewelry, components and raw crystal stones.
Upper floors: Less concentrated jewelry and accessories stores, along with some warehouse space or other uses.
Opening hours: 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. It's best to visit around 11:00 a.m., as the shops stay open late.
Wholesale prices and MOQ
Most silver jewelry components at Liwan Plaza have a minimum order of 3,000 RMB, priced by weight (per gram). For example, a friend of mine who runs a jewelry business in China once purchased 925 silver from a store with a minimum order of 30 grams per style and at least 10 styles.
Taikang Jewelry Market (泰康饰品城)
The Taikang Jewelry Market, known as the "Yiwu of Guangzhou" in the jewelry world, offers an incredible variety of styles with virtually no minimum purchase threshold. The main materials are electroplated or alloy products, with silver pendants, pearls, and, mostly, synthetic gemstones for gemstone designs.
1F: Mid- and high-end jewelry
Here you'll find a wealth of sterling silver and gold-plated copper jewelry. Three large boutiques dominate almost half the floor and offer a wide variety of styles. You can typically combine 30 pieces—including rings, bracelets, and earrings—to meet the minimum order.
Hats, handbags, and sunglasses are also sold on the first floor. If you're interested in wholesale hats, consider visiting the nearby Yuexiu South, which has a wholesale hat market.
2F and above
Prices drop as you go up, but patience is required to select styles and quality. The good news is that the wholesale threshold is quite low, as you typically start with a mixed batch of 10 pieces. On the third floor, you'll find several shops offering pearl jewelry, while the fourth floor focuses more on men's styles, particularly steel and titanium accessories.
Opening hours: 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Here I want to tell you a fact:
Most of the stalls at Taikang Jewelry Market source their supplies from Yiwu International Trade City, so prices are higher than in Yiwu. If you're looking to buy fashion jewelry in bulk, Yiwu Market offers a better value.
Two things to keep in mind when shopping in Guangzhou's jewelry markets.
Ask about materials and craftsmanship.
Jewelry materials vary widely, and the price differences can be significant. For example, S925 silver (approximately 8 to 9 RMB per gram) is more expensive than pure copper, which is more expensive than titanium steel, and titanium steel costs more than the alloy. Furthermore, the thickness of the electroplating affects the price: a thicker coating means a higher price, but also better color retention.
For inexpensive earrings and studs, pay special attention to the material of the pins. Silver is the best choice, as it's less likely to cause skin allergies.
How to know if it is authentic S925 silver?
The S925 stamp is an important way to easily identify silver jewelry. Additionally, silver earrings are quite soft and can be easily bent by hand, which can help with a quick check. However, for accurate confirmation, it's best to rely on certification or inspection labels from an authorized testing institution.
Visit more stores to compare prices and quality of similar styles.
If you find a design you like, don't rush to pay right away. Take a photo of the sign or store number, explore more stores, and compare the craftsmanship, price, and quality. Choose the option that best suits your needs.
